The Artistic Director of the Okareka Dance Company, Taane Mete, has taken time out of his busy schedule during the New Zealand tour of the amazing K-Road Strip contemporary dance show, to visit beauty schools aligned with Wendy Hill Cosmetics.
During the visit, Taane gave a short presentation and answered questions on the show, then demonstrated some of the makeup products and techniques used in the show.
Our photo shows Taane during his presentation to beauty students at Aoraki Polytec's Dunedin campus.
Wendy Hill Cosmetics is proud to be the makeup sponsor of the Okareka Dance Company, and our makeup products are used exclusively by the performers. It's a marvellous demonstration of the versatility and durability of our products, and a great demonstration of what can be achieved with our makeup.
K'Rd Strip - A Place to Stand is a tribute to Auckland's infamous Karangahape Road, and it has been staged in Auckland, Dunedin, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Wellington.
It is Okareka's response to an Auckland landmark that has anchored its roots deep into the veins of New Zealand history, both culturally and counter-culturally. The result is a work that is unlike anything Okareka has created before - pole dancing, drag queens, haka, contemporary dance and dramatic scenes entwined with live vocals of an all New Zealand music score from the likes of Gin Wigmore, Mi Sex, Annie Crummer and Th'Dudes.
Tiffany and Wendy enjoyed setting the makeup design for both the promotional photographic work and the stage performances, creating images that reflect the theme of each character having two sides; their beautiful man side and their K' Rd glam side!
Our photo (below) shows the makeup on performer Will Cooper-Barling, one of the six dancers who bring the performance alive.
K'Rd Strip has received rave reviews from all quarters and it’s a show that anyone who has any knowledge of K' Rd will love!
We loved the show, and so have our clients who have been fortunate enough to attend!
