Winter Fusion - Wendy Hill Cosmetics autumn/winter style
By Wendy Hill
Following a season of bold, bright tones with an obsession for fire engine red lips, we favour the autumn/winter trend for softer, more muted tones.
Sultry, earthy shades of mossy greens, chocolate, burnt orange and amber, smoky bronzes and rich plum berries contrast perfectly with the bold appearance of black leather garments and accessories, embellished with metal studs, zips and chains.
The fashion hits for this season, are a mix of strong masculine and saucy feminine, showing denim and leather offset with soft, drapey fabrics and lace.
Alice created a makeup to warm and highlight the face, with rich but subtle tones to fuse these looks together and embrace the feminine element.
Makeup -
Skin was prepped with velvet veil primer for a smooth application of foundation.
For a luminous glow, a hint of bronze candleglow highlighter was mixed with the foundation and applied with a kabuki brush, which blended, and polished the foundation flawlessly.
Bronzing powder was used to contour the face, with a dusting of mineral blusher over the cheekbones to highlight.
Eyeshadows were layered and well blended, starting with soft oyster then a mix of sultry metallic shades of gold bronze, with antique gold and golden olive applied with a damp brush to intensify. A touch of shiny gold added light to the eyes.
Eyes were rimmed with black gel eyeliner, with evergreen pencil to the inner rim, finishing with layers of black mascara.
Lips were primed with lip therapy balm, and softly topped with frosted brown lipstick and a touch of gloss.
Hair -
Due to the change in seasons, hair can dry out so the hair was pre-treated with a moisturising shampoo and treatment to help control any fluffiness caused by dehydration.
Alice was inspired by model Phoebe's natural hair colour and texture, which toned beautifully with the makeup shades.
Alice wanted to create "a windswept style that could withstand 10 seasons in one day".
Funnily enough, on the way to the studio the styled model was caught in a torrential downpour, but held up well, all thanks to pre-setting the hair and applying an absorbent powder to the roots to add body, then putting up and setting the look with a flexible hairspray.
