Delicate Mood

Delicate Mood

By Wendy Hill

This Autumn/Winter season sees a continuation of softer, paler makeup trends as seen throughout Spring and Summer, but with a shift from the buff beige and bronzy tones to a fresher, cooler palette.

New York Fashion Week was all about barely there beauty, which varied from bare to brilliant, one of our favourites being the rosy beauties that roamed the runways.

The new bare face needs little more than just a great application of foundation to balance the heavier textures of winter clothes, so step up the barely there beauty look to create some definition for those cooler days. For a cool chic look, which is both whimsical and flirty, balance a soft rose pink lip with a slice of black to the eyes.

FACE - Skin is presented as flawless, translucent and luminous, so start with Velvet Veil Primer to even out skin texture and lock in moisture. It also helps to prevent the skin from drying out as the temperature drops. Apply new Wendy Hill Anti-Aging Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30 using your fingers to warm the product and press it gently onto the face so it looks like it has melted into the skin. The result is a translucent coverage that looks like immaculate skin. Add a light touch of Mineral Pressed Powder Medium Light just to the T-Zone to leave skin more dewy and luminous.

CHEEKS - For blusher take the Kabuki Brush and softly stipple Blusher/Bronzer Duo -Two Fabulous along the cheekbones, blending well into the skin for a very natural effect. Again, using your fingers, dab a little Candle Glow Highlighter - Gold to the top of the cheekbones, the centre of the chin and add a triangle just above the Cupid’s Bow under the nose, blend and press in well for soft highlights and luminous skin. J. Lo likes to add a touch of highlighter down the bridge of her nose, a great look if you have a great nose!

EYES - The smoky eye look continues on but the new look is now ‘under smoked’ and more tamed, using shades of chocolate with black eye liner, just framing the eyes and leaving a light brow area. For a creamy, luminous base sweep a touch of Candleglow Gold all over the eye area, apply a softer shade of Brown Silver Eyeshadow onto the lid followed by a layer of Brown Matte Eyeshadow (a rich dark molten chocolate shade). Apply Faux Fashion Staggered Full Lashes for more dramatic eyes if desired. Line the top lid with Indelible Gel Eyeliner Black Out and the lower lash line with Eyeliner Pencil Black, keeping all the eye work smudged and closer to the lash line.

LIPS - A combination of matte lipstick and lip gloss make an interesting duo, adding both depth and volume to the lips. The new Tiffany@ Wendy Hill range of matte lipsticks with highly saturated pigments look terrific on their own and sensational teamed with a gloss. Press a light layer of pink Matte Lipstick Cloud Nine well into the lips keeping the lip line slightly blurred for a soft focus edge. Add another layer then top with sheer glassy Wet Lips gloss for a fabulous effect.

This is a makeup look that is soft and feminine as a rose, but with an edgy statement that will travel over all styles and colours this season.
